Artist, Author, Illustrator

Sandy Steen Bartholomew is an artist, author, and illustrator known for her
playful, offbeat creations that blend storytelling, humor, and a touch of chaos.
Her work spans from intricate drawings and comics to three-dimensional
creatures crafted from found objects, clay, and fabric.
Inspired by the joys and challenges of neurodivergence, Sandy embraces an
unconventional approach to art, transforming discarded materials and everyday
curiosities into vibrant, mischievous beings with their own tales to tell.
A lifelong storyteller, Sandy has authored and illustrated numerous books,
bringing her unique artistic voice to both instructional and narrative works.
Her background in illustration, design, and the Zentangle® method has
influenced her detailed, pattern-rich style, while her love of toys, junk, and
oddball characters keeps her work unpredictable. Whether on paper or in
sculpture, her creations invite viewers into a world where
imperfection is celebrated, imagination runs wild, and
nothing is ever quite what it seems.
Sandy lives in Warner, NH, with her service dog,
Elsa Bear. They both work and play in their
mixed-media studio surrounded by
half-finished projects and an ever
growing menagerie of creatures.
