Open Studios is a free, self-guided opportunity to visit local artists where they create. Meet the people behind the work, see their studios and working spaces, ask questions, discover techniques and materials, and experience the many different ways art is made.

Art Doesn't Happen the Same Way for Everyone
Walk into one studio and you might find paint-covered brushes, canvases, and works in progress.
In another, there may be clay, glass, metal, wood, fiber, photographic equipment, digital tools, or materials you have never thought of as part of an artist's practice.
Some artists work in dedicated studios. Others create in workshops, galleries, community spaces, home studios, garages, or other places they've transformed into creative environments.
There is no single way to make art—and no two studios are quite alike.
That's part of what makes Open Studios special!
More Than a Finished Artwork
When we encounter art in a gallery, we usually see the finished piece.
A studio lets us see some of what happens before that moment.
You may see sketches and experiments, tools and materials, works in progress, pieces waiting for their next step, or evidence of techniques that have taken an artist years to develop.
Sometimes the best part of seeing an artwork is learning the story behind it.
