Art in Bloom
June 12–14, 2026
Art in Bloom transformed Whipple Hall into a celebration of creativity, beauty, and imagination. Throughout the weekend, original artwork from the Center for the Arts' rotating member exhibition was paired with floral interpretations created by local florists, garden centers, and garden clubs. Workshops, special events, and community experiences invited visitors to explore the connection between flowers, fine art, and creative expression.

The annual Art in Bloom exhibition paired original artwork by Center for the Arts member artists with floral arrangements created by talented florists, garden clubs, farms, and designers from across the Lake Sunapee Region. Each floral artist selected a painting and interpreted it through flowers, creating a unique collaboration between visual art and floral design.

Guests gathered after hours for the Art in Bloom Garden Party, a special fundraising celebration benefiting the Center for the Arts. Surrounded by artwork and floral interpretations, attendees enjoyed refreshments, conversation, and festive floral attire while supporting the arts in a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere.

Guests enjoyed a behind-the-scenes look at Art in Bloom during the Walk & Talk Brunch, where participating artists and floral designers shared the inspiration, creative process, and stories behind their collaborations. Participants explored the art of botanical printing through the traditional techniques of Shibori and Hapa Zome, using flowers, leaves, and natural materials to create unique prints on fabric and paper. Guided by artist Carey Stoudt, the workshop encouraged creativity, experimentation, and a deeper appreciation for the beauty of the natural world.

Indigo Shibori Textile Workshop: Pattern, Process & Connection

Participants explored the centuries-old Japanese art of Indigo Shibori through folding, binding, clamping, and dyeing techniques that transform fabric into one-of-a-kind textiles. Guided through each step of the process, attendees experimented with pattern, texture, and design while discovering the creativity, craftsmanship, and rich traditions behind this timeless art form.
