Teen Writers Submissions

On this page are some additional places for teens to submit their written works. These are publications by other organizations and are not affiliated with Center for the Arts - Lake Sunapee Region.

Apricity Magazine

Official literary and arts magazine of University of Texas at Austin. Accepts high school student writing. No submission fee. Requires a Submittable account.

Balloons Lit Journal

Online literary journal that accepts poetry and fiction for teens as young as 12. No submission fee. Does not require a Submittable account.

Blue Marble Review

Blue Marble Review is a quarterly online literary journal showcasing the creative work of student writers ages 13-22. Welcomes poetry, fiction, essays, travel writing, and opinion pieces. No submission fee. Doesn’t require a Submittable account. Published writers receive $30 per published piece.

Cast of Wonders

A podcast that reads published submissions and accepts works from anyone under 18 with a specialization in Young Adult fiction. No submission fee. Doesn’t require a Submittable account. Pays for published pieces.

Élan

Digital and print literary magazine published by the Creative Writing department at Douglas Anderson School of the Arts. They accept poetry, fiction, plays, screenplays, and creative nonfiction from ages 14-18. No submission fee. Doesn’t require a Submittable account.​

Levitate

Once a year the Chicago High School for the Arts publishes their literary magazine Levitate. Submissions can be poetry, fiction, or creative nonfiction. No submission fee. Requires a Submittable account.

One Teen Story

Literary magazine that publishes just one teen (ages 13-19) story per issue at three stories per year. No submission fee. Requires a Submittable account. Pays very well for published pieces.

Polyphony Lit

International student literary magazine of poetry, fiction, and creative nonfiction for teen writers (ages 14-18) which is edited by teens as well. No submission fee. Requires a Submittable account.

Stone Soup

Literary magazine for ages 13 and younger that publishes poetry, fiction, and essays. There is also an annual book contest. They have a submission fee, but it may be waived (check their FAQs page for details on that). Requires a Submittable account.

Teen Ink

Publishes poetry, fiction, and essays by teenagers. A digital magazine and website that publishes work by teenagers (ages 13-19). Teen Ink does require registration, but they are open to a wide variety (and lengths) of writing. No submission fee. Doesn’t require a Submittable account.

Touchstone

A print publication from the Poetry Society of New Hampshire (PSNH) that is open to all ages. Need to be a resident of New Hampshire. Submissions are free for current PSNH members, and a nominal fee is charged for non-members. Requires Submittable account.

Young Writers Project

Online writing community and publication for teens ages 13-19 accepting poetry, fiction, nonfiction, and writing prompts called “Challenges.” Teens must create a profile and add their writing to the site to be considered for publication in their annual print and digital publication. No submission fee. Does not require Submittable account.​
