New London, NH – This October the Center for the Arts (CFA) invites you to nurture your creativity at the CFA by taking a class. There is something for everyone at all different stages and ages—painting, music, cartooning, printmaking, creative writing, and so much more!



Our Upcoming October Classes:


Rainbow Tumblers with Christine Donovan

October 3, 6–8:30pm

Learn how to use a finger paint technique to paint both a tumbler and a tumbler with this fun melty rainbow glazing combo.


Music with Friends with Julie Love

MONDAY DROP-IN: October 6 to November 24, 9–9:45am

Experience singing, dancing, clapping, and using a variety of musical instruments like bells, shakers, drums, and tambourinesthis class is sure to get everybody up and moving!


Cartooning for Kids with Wayne Carter

WEDNESDAY DROP-IN: October 8 to November 26, 3:30–4:30pm  

Combine storytelling and illustration in this exciting class with Wayne, a current comic teacher at the Cartoon Club for the Center for Cartoon Studies. 


Introduction to Printmaking with Pam Smith

October 10, 6–8:30pm

Learn the relief printmaking process, from transferring designs to carving and inking the block, and take home your own print and carved block.


Constructing Settings: A Generative Craft Workshop with Ceillie Clark-Keane

October 11, 9am–12pm

Have you ever wondered how your environment impacts your creativity? Humans spend close to 90% of our lives indoors, so no wonder these interior spaces are so relevant. This class will explore how constructing these defined spaces and describing the items within contributes to the mood, tone, and character development. Read, discuss, and jumpstart your own descriptive writing!  


Cartooning for Teens with Wayne Carter

SUNDAY DROP-IN: October 12 to November 23, 5:00–6:30pm 

Combine storytelling and illustration in this exciting class with Wayne, a current comic teacher at the Cartoon Club for the Center for Cartoon Studies. 


Glass Mosaic Mirrored Garden Ornament with Jean Twombly

TUESDAY & THURSDAY SERIES: October 14 to October 23, 5:30–9:30pm 

Add a sparkle to your decor during this four-part glass mosaic class that meets twice a week. Discover different design elements and learn how to create an effective pattern! 


Neurodoodling with Sandy Bartholomew

October 17, 10am–12pm

Learn an easy drawing exercise to help relax your brain and calm your nerves. No drawing experience is necessary—anyone can learn to create neurodoodles!


Group Ukulele Lessons with Bob Naylor

SUNDAY SERIES: October 19 to November 9, 3–4:30pm

Grab a friend and join us in a relaxed, fun-filled series of ukulele classes. The ukulele is an inexpensive, easy to play instrument with a cheerful sound. There will be several ukuleles available at each class but why not dive in and pick out your own.


Collagraph Relief Printing with Sarah Maxell Crosby

October 21, 10am–3pm

Focus on relief methods while using a variety of materials, including lace, yarn, and other textiles, to build plates on varnished matboards, then print them with acrylic paint.

October 22, 10am–12pm

Introduction to Printmaking with Pam Smith

October 22, 6–8:30pm

Enjoy a spooky and fun printmaking workshop where you'll create an original block print inspired by vintage Halloween designs.


Basket-Making Workshop with Ray Lagasse

October 23, 8:30am–4pm

Create a stunning, heirloom-quality wooden basket while exploring different techniques—led by a master craftsman and former juried member of the League of NH Craftsmen.


Layer & Glaze in Oils with Todd Bonita

October 24, 10am–4pm 

Explore the classical approach of creating monochromatic, grisaille under-paintings. 


Digital Art and Animation with Paula Allen

October 25, 10am–12pm 

Make your drawings move in this introduction to animation. Express creative ideas through storyboarding, character design, and telling stories with simple animated short movies.
