Pingree Walk Oil on Panel
2025
Now retired, Nancy Girald has finally found the time to pursue her passion for oil painting. Living in New London, the little lake and rolling hills provide inspiration for her painting. Additionally, Her family and the tropical landscapes and animals in southwestern Florida influence their creativity. Her method is simple: Nancy starts her painting by capturing the entire scene or subject on her canvas in the first few minutes. Then, she returns to add thin layers of color to enhance the value and design elements. And finally, she strives to find that artist’s stroke that is at times elusive to her.
Grace Cooper and Ron Brown have helped Nancy's journey as a painter here in New Hampshire. In Florida, her winter home, Nancy has studied with Johan Bjurman, a snowbird like Nancy, who hails from both coastal Rhode Island and Florida. Her paintings have been exhibited at the Naturally New England show in Sunapee and at the Boca Grande [Florida] Art Center.
