Painter

Janie Snowden is an oil painter originally from Santa Cruz, California. Having moved throughout Northern California, New England and most recently, France, she and her husband now live on a small lake in New Hampshire.
Endlessly fascinated by the effects of light and shadow in nature and on architecture, Janie captures the drama of a scene. Wherever she may be painting, her work evokes a keen sense of place. Her love of daily hikes, photography, kayaking and travel gives Janie a constant source of inspiration and she can often be spotted with a backpack heading off to paint in plein air in some beautiful spot.
A 300 mile walk in France, then a year spent in Provence last year inspired Janie to immerse herself in the beauty of the area which resulted in a collection of 30 new paintings. Currently, in addition to landscapes, Janie is working on a series of interiors and nocturnes.
Janie's art education includes workshops by Tim Horn, Aline Ordman, Carl Dalio and Vincent Crotty. She is a member of the New Hampshire Art Association, Two Villages Art Society, Center For The Arts New Hampshire and Marblehead Arts Association.
