New London, NH, September 16  – Center for the Arts (CFA) will be hosting the September installment of the HuManities Mondays series at Whipple Hall on September 16 at 5:30pm with guest speaker Nora Lewis for a look at Black Heritage Trail NH.

Nora Lewis, Development Associate for Black Heritage Trail NH, will be presenting on Black Heritage Trail NH and Black History in NH. If you have ever been interested in Black History in NH, this event will be a great way to introduce yourself to it. Black Heritage Trail NH is a nonprofit organization serving the purpose of preserving and spreading awareness and appreciation of African American history in NH. Their office is located in Portsmouth where the trans-Atlantic slave trade used to bring in human cargo and conduct business on the docks. They offer guided tours and lectures on NH black history and African American culture. They also engage the community with annual programs such as a Juneteenth celebration, readings of Frederick Douglass’s “What to the slave is your 4th of July” speech, and The Black New England Conference. You can learn more about these programs and more from their website at https://blackheritagetrailnh.org/
