New London, NH- The Center for the Arts’ invites you to take a deep dive into Joni Mitchell’s lyrics and unique melodic song structure with educational speaker John Peterman. This well crafted learning opportunity takes place inside Whipple Hall on Saturday, October 25 and is open to the community.
Joni Mitchell has long been regarded as one of the most influential songwriters of the 20th century. Her music touched the hearts of millions around the world as it continued to evolve in style, from folk singer to pop, jazz, and rock. She wrote personal songs about her friends and lovers and powerful ballads centered around the pitfalls of American suburban life. Well known songs like "The Circle Game", "Both Sides Now", "Big Yellow Taxi", and "A Case of You" will all be discussed in this presentation before diving into her more acerbic work.
John Peterman is a nationally recognized educational speaker that curates lifelong learning courses. He is an avid mid-century music and film enthusiast and serves on the Leadership Council for the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at Dartmouth College.
