The Tango evolved as a ballroom dance from the sultry Argentine Tango danced in the bordellos of Buenos Aires, Argentina. It emerged as a highly passionate dance, one that the respectable classes of society shunned. The American style Tango is characterized by a close hold and sharp movements and has a staccato feel. No experience necessary.

Description:  A three day retreat with soothing music, tea and an introduction to altered books.  The object of this workshop is to alter an existing book which will provide a neutral background on which to create a unique reflection of the creative and/or spiritual journey of the maker.  Using text, poems, song lyrics, created and collected images along with other art media, each artist will transform his or her book into a work of art.  Books, art materials and tools will be provided in the studio.  Participants are encouraged to bring any collected or created images, collections, lyrics etc. needed to individualize the artistic process.

Description:  A three day or evening retreat with soothing music, tea and an introduction to sighting (Proportion/measuring) techniques, shading and blending. Dry mediums: Pencil, Charcoal, Pastel will be provided along with paper and erasers. Still life may include objects on a table or weather permitting, boats in the harbor.

Description:  A three day or evening retreat with soothing music, tea and an introduction to sighting (Proportion/measuring) techniques to help you draw the still life before beginning to paint. Painting techniques including washes, glazing, dry brush and wet on wet applications will be demonstrated. Students will learn how to stretch paper and the essentials of color mixing. You are welcome to bring a photograph to enlarge with a grid or work from the still life set up. 


(Students should bring their own brushes and watercolor palette (Dry, moist or in tubes.) Paper, pencils, erasers and tape will be provided.)

Description:  A three day retreat with soothing music, tea and an introduction to perspective drawing. The Object of this workshop is to learn the basics of perspective then select a photograph that includes a building to enlarge within a landscape. You will learn how to enlarge the image using a grid, and be guided through techniques to help you understand light and shadow, value and composition while working from your own reference or one provided to you. Paper, pencil, eraser, ruler and blending Tortillions will be provided in the studio.  Participants are encouraged to bring any supplies or images needed to individualize the artistic process.
